7 Days Live: loose, uncensored and uncoventional

Men will be boys at the best of times. When the cast of TV3’s panel 7 Days was let loose on Wednesday “there will be no discipline tonight...” was a bit of an understatement. Free from TVNZ sanctions, the only boundaries were those of the audience. This gave way to comedy as loose, uncensored and unconventional as Jeremy Corbett’s shirt and shorts combo.


Enjoyably, the show swung from the current events to the outright ridiculous. Dotcom and the Queen were vilified, and “Yes Minister’ Labour MP Jacinda Ardern won over the crowd with her admission “I’m a little nervous, six men and Paul Ego!”.


And she had a right to be! Paul Ego's fast paced, one liners are anything but tame. He thrilled the crowd with his ruthless quips; these were topped off with a superb rendition of a yodelling Samoan. Dai Henwood's honest struggle to see over the desk top served as a bonus comic value. Henwood's worrying childhood game of ‘Willy shark’ had everyone doubled over, and Rhys Mathewson asked to change teams!


What more could we ask for from the 7 Days team? No area was out of bounds, no line was left uncrossed. It was a night of quick witted, unapologetic upfront banter. 7 Days Live is not for the faint hearted!
