Here we go again, it’s my favorite time of year, time to head to the land of the long white cloud to hang out with some of my favorite clowns in the business. I’ve been touring my show ‘Letters From Mindy’ around the world for a while now but almost daily I’ve been checking out my calendar and building towards The New Zealand Comedy Festival, truly my favorite festival in my yearly schedule. I’m really not sure how many performances of this show I’ve done by now, but let’s just say that my cheesy little mailbox prop for ‘Letters from Mindy’ has gone through 42 AA batteries and 14 9volts. That’s a lot of show!

Last year my highlights included an improvised karaoke night with one of your superstars Ben Hurley (don’t forget to tip your bar staff) and a trip on the Jet Boat on Waitemata Harbour where I saw Dai Henwood disappear in a hail of slippery mist only to discover he had managed to slide the length of the boat and needed to be pried out of the corner. One second we were there laughing at each other as the centrifugal force spun us round and round and the next moment a massive tidal wave of foamy salt water swept him away. This gives rise to the sincerity in the saying ‘here comes the festival, better brace ourselves!’

Of course the most important thing to mention is the shows! Great shows, in front of the best audiences in the world! Who knows what the heck kind of late n Live show the audience pushed us to pull off at the San Fran Bath house last year but it was definitely one of a kind! It’s gonna be a great laugh in 2012 too! I’m looking forward to every improvised moment. Bring on the festival!
