Lewis Dean awarded Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship

On the 26th January 2012 Back Lewis Dean has been awarded a Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship at the University of Waikato. The Scholarship is for students who excel in academia, leadership and sport or the creative and performing arts. He will be the first comedian on the Sir Edmund Hillary Scholarship Programme.

Lewis began his comedy career on our Class Comedians programme in 2009, and then went on to win the Raw Comedy Quest in 2010 and open for New Zealand comedy superstar Ben Hurley in the 2010 NZ International Comedy Festival.

As part of the Scholarship each Scholar is required to have an advisor to provide guidance to the Scholar in their area of expertise, to be available for the course to communicate with regarding their specialist area. And, very fittingly, Ben Hurley will be Lewis's scholar.
