Sarah Harpur isn’t any ordinary comedienne. Previous shows have contained such brilliant musical numbers covering anything from celebrating/mocking a friends 40th birthday and the Dead Dad’s Club. Her latest show, Pants are for Losers, doesn’t disappoint.
While the shows structure is more formulaic - a presentation of ‘scientific thesis’ - the subjects covered are anything but. No subject is taboo - Hitler and Socrates make the powerpoint, as does a Venn diagram of the universe (apparently it’s hard to show infinity in a Venn diagram), racist pets, the sh*t kid, biology, philosophy - she’s got it all covered!
Sarah’s enthusiasm is infectious and her delivery doesn’t patronise the audience. She won’t spell out the punchline for you, but she will give you a chance to catch up. There’s a subversive intelligence to her comedy, which could easily be missed by a casual observer. I find myself still giggling about some parts of her show days later (gobble!).
