The team behind the NZ International Comedy Fest are bringing back our popular Withers Tsang Class Comedians programme. And we’re moving from schools-only, out into the community so more people can take part – but it’s still free!

Aimed at high school students (but whānau are welcome too!), come and see a great line up of some of Aotearoa’s top comedians perform a free stand up show, followed by a workshop where you’ll get to learn the tricks of the comedic trade! The shows will be held in various locations around Auckland, so there’s plenty of options for you to attend.

Hosted by the award-winning Brendon Green and featuring some of the funniest Kiwis around, settle in for a great gig and then get all the inside tips from comedians including Hayley Sproull (The Great Kiwi Bake Off), Rhys Mathewson (The Project), Kura Forrester (The Adventures of Suzy Boon, Snort), James Roque (Frickin Dangerous Bro, The Spinoff TV), David Correos (Billy T Award winner) and Ruby Esther (winner of 2017 Raw & 2018 Best Debut at the Comedy Fest).

Previously only available in selected schools, we’re excited to open up Withers Tsang Class Comedians to the community after public demand!  Both the show and workshop are aimed at students aged 15-18 years, but are also suitable for families.

The shows and workshops are free but numbers are limited, and seating will be on first come first served basis. Click here to register your interest.

Following the comedy workshops, a small number of students will be selected to carry on with the full Class Comedians programme (which is also free), which includes weekend and school holiday workshops, followed by a final performance in Q Theatre as part of the 2019 NZ International Comedy Festival - check that show out here!

If you can't make it to the free workshops, apply to be a part of the full Class Comedians programme here.
