Basement Theatre is a place where urgent and adventurous live performance made by independent artists is incubated and supported - proudly showcasing artist's work across two performance spaces, the Studio upstairs and the Theatre downstairs. Tickets are cheap, as are the drinks at the bar, so grab your whānau, your friends, or a date, and come witness history in the making.

Our upstairs Studio space is smaller and more intimate with a maximum of 63 seats. Unfortunately this space is not wheelchair accessible with a large amount of stairs taking you up another level. We hope to make this space accessible in the future and apologise for any inconvenience.

Kick off your night at Basement's Bar. Whether you are seeing a show, supporting a friend, hanging out with mates or looking for a new community to be a part of, our bar has you covered. 100% of the profits generated in the bar go towards putting on urgent live performances. With a rotating selection of local craft beer, a catchy wine list and a library of spirits and non alcoholic treats, our bar prides itself on having something for everyone from a unique one off beer run to a reliable glass of sauv. Basement's bar is open 5:30pm - late; Tuesday through Saturday.
