After partnering with Visa Wellington On a Plate and becoming a sellout hit at last year’s festival, the NZ International Comedy Festival with Best Foods Mayo is once again teaming up with Parrotdog Brewery for Sunday Roast, mashing together the beloved Sunday night feast with a tasty selection of comedians in a hilarious night of comedy like no other on 5 May.

This year Parrotdog and Comedy Fest have taken their partnership one step further, joining forces to bring together lager and laughter to make, well, a Laugher. While they’ll leave the jokes to the real comedians, audiences across the country will get to try out this special edition Parrotdog x Comedy Fest Laugher at all participating festival venues.

"We're incredibly excited to team up with the Comedy Festival to create a special festival beer. Laugher is a refreshing and light-hearted brew that embodies the spirit of comedy and we can’t wait for festival fans to enjoy it.” says Paul Watson, Parrotdog Managing Director.

Back at the brewery’s iconic bar in Lyall Bay, Sunday Roast will offer a delicious two-course dinner and snacks created by Parrotdog’s head chef, with your choice of fresh Parrotdog beer. The evening of stand-up and silliness will be hosted by comedy icon Tom Sainsbury. 2019 Billy T Award nominee and Wellington Paranormal star, Tom has become beloved in Aotearoa for his super popular online impressions, and audiences will have also seen him on screens in everything from Double Parked, 7 Days and his own Loop Track.

Joining Tom is the award-winning Pax Assadi, a familiar face from his days in Frickin Dangerous Bro, and as host of The Great Kiwi Bake Off. Pax has made regular appearances on 7 Days and The Project, and created and starred in NEON’s Raised by Refugees.

After kicking off her comedy career and winning 2019’s Raw Comedy Quest and Best Newcomer, Courtney Dawson has gone on to star on Have You Been Paying Attention?, Paddy Gower Has Issues, and made the final three in Celebrity Treasure Island. Now she’ll be in the Capital for Sunday Roast.

Wellington local Lesa MacLeod-Whiting rounds out the all-star lineup. 2020 Raw Comedy Quest national finalist, Lesa also won Best Comedian at the 2023 Wellington Comedy Awards and is also the co-host of the podcast Are We Pals?.

Sunday Roast is the perfect excuse to get your mates together and enjoy scrumptious food, delicious beer, and more laughs than your typical family dinner in the welcoming surrounds of Parrotdog Brewery.

Make sure you have a Laugher while it lasts. Follow the Parrotdog Beer and Comedy Fest social channels for updates on where to find this special lager throughout the festival!
