Comedy Lab

Comedy Lab is a development initiative brought to you by NZ Comedy Trust as part of our artist development programme.

Comedy Lab allows audience the chance to see the inner workings of stand up and to be part of the process. Well allowing comedians to receive direct and useful feedback on their material during the writing process. 

Comedy Lab occurs monthly in Auckland and several time a year in Wellington, involving a host who facilitates the show and q&a session and around 4-5 comedians ranging in experience levels. 

A core driver of this initiative is to give back and foster a supportive community where artist choose collaboration over competition. 

Comedy Lab was relaunched in August of 2023 and was hosted by Guy Montgomery, a comedian who had vested interest as Comedy Lab had been part of his development in a prior iteration. Comedy Lab has featured many of Aotearoa's greatest talents including, Nick Rado, Hoani Hotene, Abby Howells, Janaye Henry, Henry Yan, Pax Assadi, Courtney Dawson and many more.
