Tony Lyall

Talking When I Should Be Listening

Tony Lyall is one of New Zealand's best stand up comedians, dealing predominantly in stories.

To make sure he still has stories to tell he has had to put himself into more and more outrageous situations and often during these tense moments Tony thinks to himself, at least I'll get a story out of this. Come to this show to hear what happens when you start talking when you should be listening.

Known for his work on 7 Days, The Project, The ACC Does Game of 2 Halves, Radio Hauraki and multiple NZ International Comedy Festival Galas. He has performed 7 solo hours as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival and at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. He has also interviewed some of the biggest celebrities on the planet, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Keira Knightley, Ryan Reynolds, Melanie Lynskey, Chris Pratt and the cast of Jackass to name a few. As well as doing all that, he still has time to be a part of the much loved Alternative Commentary Collective.

Tony's MC work has taken him to various sports events around the country. He is the regular Match Day MC for the Black Caps and New Zealand Cricket, and has MCed for both Wellington Cricket and the Blues Rugby Club. He's also a sought after corporate MC and performer, and has entertained some of the biggest companies in New Zealand.

Originally from Blenheim in the South Island, Tony now lives in West Auckland with his wife, three kids and his Toyota Aqua.
